A synod deacon serves the local congregation complementing both the pastoral and lay ministries. A deacon is a lay person inwardly compelled and publicly affirmed for service through consecration.

Activities

• Enhances the ministry of the laity by modeling study, service, outreach and commitment within the congregation.
• Enhances the pastoral ministry by sharing designated duties of the pastoral office.
• Coordinates the Eucharistic Ministry for the sick and shut-ins.
• Cares for the sick and shut – ins (includes taking the emergency calls).
• Coordinates the New Disciple Dinner.
